On Our Campus

Seminary Seal

The Seminary Seal represents the seal of the Aquinas family. St. Thomas is our patron and we are proud to possess and exhibit his coat of arms. It stands for the spirit of religious purpose animating our seminary. It is a symbol of attachment to the principles so admirably exemplified in the life of our model. The blue of our banner means perseverance and the white means fair, sportsmanship-like conduct; the red and gold bars of our shield symbolize the ardor of zealous service and devotion to pure endeavor. The rampant griffin stands for Christian courage.

Welcome to the Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary.

We are located in Bloomfield, Connecticut on 80 acres of woodland three miles north of Hartford. Our facility which opened in 1930 as St. Thomas Seminary is now available to groups involved in religious, ecumenical, educational or charitable missions. We offer over 22,000 square feet of retreat and conference rooms, 80 dormitory style guest rooms, catering and conference services and recreational facilities.

Our beautiful gothic style main chapel has the distinction of being one of the most prestigious in the state. The priceless stained glass windows from Great Britain depict a dozen scenes from Scripture. With a capacity of 400, the chapel is most conducive to any liturgical service. The chapel is open for private prayer Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM.    Mass is celebrated Monday-Friday at 12:10 PM including holydays. All are welcome. There are no public Masses on weekends or holidays.

The Archbishop O'Brien Library is located at the facility. The library has 25,000 volumes including texts of 15th through 19th century Catholic Americana and history.

Our location is central to all points in Connecticut and New England. We are a short 20 minute drive to Bradley International Airport and 10 minutes from the Union Station rail and bus terminal in Hartford. We are easily accessible from Interstates 91 and 84. Our location is close to great dining, shopping and entertainment venues throughout greater Hartford.

Our doors are open to welcome you. We look forward to meeting with you to plan your next event or to greet you as you attend a retreat or educational program at the Archdiocesan Center. Enjoy your time at our beautiful Center.
